Dixie County Humane Society

Today I took a ride up the the Dixie County Humane Society. They hold a yard sale every Friday and Saturday. They have 2 buildings full of fun finds, everything from furniture to jewelry, crafting items, and antiques. Today they even had a McCoy Cookie Jar in great condition and the most lovely Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt. The quilt is hand-pieced and hand-quilted. A beautiful specimen.

All the proceeds from the yard sale goes to the medical needs and food for the dogs and cats they rescue. They hold an adoption day and a vaccine clinic. It's a great place to buy dog and cat toys, flea meds, and what have you.

Why do we charge an adoption fee?
Because animal shelters must be able to cover the costs involved in caring for the animals we house, we charge fees for adoption services. These costs can include feeding, grooming, vaccinations, medications and, spaying or neutering. We depend on donations to cover these costs as we are not profit-making organization.
Although adoption fees are needed, we also serve another purpose. The decision to acquire a pet should be made very carefully. Individuals need to be ready and willing to pay for necessary costs of owning an animal, such as inoculations, veterinary care, licensing, food, and more. If a modest adoption fee causes the prospective pet owner concern, then he or she very well may not be prepared to make the financial commitment required of responsible pet owners.

We are Self-funded and rely on donations from the public in order to stay in operation. Donations of food, pet carriers, leashes, collars and other supplies are always in need, as are financial donations.

We have wonderful volunteers. However we could always use more.

If you can foster an animal that would help us to save more animals.

Millions of homeless animals are euthanized each year.

Let’s please, all come together as a community and help one another to combat this sad high rising problem.

To donate: We have paypal, a highly trusted service which allows you to donate money to us.

Dixie County Humane Society thanks you, for all your help is greatly appreciated and helping us to support our cause to help all the homeless animals awaiting adoption.
